I own Activeseniormate, but I am still here on Senior Match...so whats the use of doing things here when my own site is not benefitting...
I am sad because a nice man has said hello, but I cannot say hello back, just wink..and whats the use of that.

Seasons Of Life

We are born into Spring.
Like the season, we are new and we arrive in sparkling bursts of green and color and we open our mouth and roar into the world.
We learn many things, and we grow and grow.
We study, we learn we discover the world and we take a part in it.
We are Spring...young and beautiful.
Then one day we find a mate, we marry and we have a child.
We become Summer, and our child and children become the Spring that has now left us while we become Summer.
Rich in experience we grow and watch the fruit that has come from us. We are a part of the growth that is our children and we share in their growth and development while our lives develop around the families that we create.
We marvel in the richness of Summer and believe that this will never end.
We are in our peak and the world is ours. Summer is rich and full and we are happy.
But time moves on, and our Spring now bears fruit, and suddenly we discover that we are grandparents and Autumn.
In the Autumn we have to reconcile and accept that the Spring Delight, and the Summer ripeness has started to first turn into golds and deep reds and then start to fade. We watch the leaves as they lose their rich shape, and dry with veins and wrinkles. We search the mirror seeking the rich velvet of summer and find lines of time. Our lives are being etched on our own faces, and in horror we turn inward and away as our husbands, friends and mates look for Spring and Summer and forget they are also in Autumn. Suddenly we realise that Autumn has a beauty too. The rich colors are the souls that have grown and become what we now are...a beautiful Autumn, rich with experience and rich with Love. We watch our children in their Summer, and the grandchildren in their Spring. We smile because we see that we have grown beyond both Spring and Summer and we are Autumn.
Then the Children's children have children, and suddenly we have great grandchildren. This comes as a surprise as we have forgotten that we have reached this stage. We are Winter. It was always someone else who got old, never us. Then there is a growing awareness that another Season has arrived, and we smile in Winter as we hold the great grandchild in our arms and marvel that now there are four seasons in the room. My children in their Autumn, gaze contentedly at their Summer holding Spring in their arms. I smile as the snowflakes fall and fade my hair and skin, but inside the trees are full of power and shelter from the freezing blasts of snow and ice preparing for their birth into another Spring in the new world we have earned the right to enter. The heart is strong, and though the leaves have fallen and the the tree looks bare, inside is a whole lifetime of experience and living. We have seen the Seasons and have lived them all, and rich with this, we smile inside our Winter celebrating all we are and all we know and love.
Winter is as rich and full of energy ready for the Sports of Winter and the Winter Wonderland of life. Now we are really free to enjoy what life we have with friends we shared and have yet to meet and grow.
Whatever Season you are in..enjoy it, as Life is growth and like the Seasons, we too have to grow and change and see that each time has its own worth and beauty.

Cruising for my Next Aventure

I have never done a cruise before, because I like to control where I go and what I see and what I can do, and as a very lively person felt that cruising was restrictive, and that I preferred the freedom of moving.
Then in the last few years, I have started joining tours. I found it was easier to meet people when on a tour than when walking alone, and I also saw the places the tour took us to.
I enjoyed the tours so much, that I decided to try a cruise, and when I found this site with reduced fares, I immediately went searching and found one to fit my vacation.
I start in Singapore, then onto Vietnam and Cambodia and on to Hong Kong, where I will stay for a week in Kowloon, and then return to Hefei via Guangzhou.
I am looking forward to it more and more each day.

Winks are useless : How to get emails:

The 'wink' with which we can show interest, is actually hopeless, as unless people are gold members, they cannot do anything, beyond simply wink back every month.
This is not really a good way to start or develop a friendship.
Maybe we can make suggestions to Admin to work out something better so people will return and use the site.
Today I felt lonely, and came back here for a look. I found that I got totally frustrated, simply responding to 'winks' that I, or the other person cannot do anything about. Most of my 'winks' came from accounts not there anymore, or members like me, who are not gold members.
Maybe User Names can represent individuals somehow. Maybe SeniorMatch can make user names email addresses within the site like other sites do.
Maybe membership for men, and free membership for women, will make more people active.
Maybe gold members can have people they wink or write to, reply free.
Maybe we should all make suggestions so this site won't die, like it seems to be doing right now.
I have far too many online subscriptions to start a social one..but at the same time, I would like to be active on Seniormatch and write to some friends here...which I cannot do at present, beyond sending useless 'winks'
Please Admin....do something or you will lose the few members you have left. From what I see today, the site is dying...and you can only revive it by giving people something to return for.
Winks are useless as a communication tool, as you cannot follow a wink, and you have to know someone before you can communicate with them properly...The site needs balls for play to happen or resume.
The game looks lost...

I wonder how many people read blogs?
They used to be really interactive when there are not many blogs..then one has the time to read the blogs of your friends, and even go searching new people and their blogs.
Its exciting to see the number of people who have come and read your thoughts.
That was in the beginning when blogs were new, and when readers were not blog familiar, and when the writers all offered new things.
Today there are so many blogs, and so many people writing blogs...and also the length of the blogs seem to have got longer...some are missiles and full length articles..and what I have found is that..
Firstly, I no longer have the time to read all the blogs of all who have linked to me.
Secondly, when I go to read the blogs, they are often so long, and sometimes too personal, to be interesting, so I start reading and give up.
Thirdly, the blog that rambles on about feelings has started to irritate me..as I come here to learn something new, not to listen to complaints in text. (written nags)
Fourthly, I also realise people are not reading my blogs either...maybe for the same reasons I have listed, so the delight in writing them is there only for myself..
Got that off my chest..was trying to see if I can still write a blog as a non-gold member...
I did enjoy the free membership for the time it lasted.. Thank you SM..
Now I can only reply to emails...

This is called Senior match..
I DO NOT want 36 year old guys writing to me.
I am looking for a mature friend my age, not a chiuld to adopt.
Why are there so many younger people joining something called Senior Match???
Surely there are other places for you younger folk?????
Give us oldies a chance to meet someone without giving old guys hope, that someone under 30 is actually interested in someone over 60?
Sigh!!! Joined this not to get flooded with emails from young guys..and its happening here too..

Just wondering whether there are any serious men out there...
I had a pretty photo...no takers...I have a sporty fit photo...no takers...what next??? a 20 year old girl????
But,
I don't want to meet guy who wants someone younger than my daughter. I would like to meet someone in my own age group who is happy being in the same age group.....who is now alone for whatever reason...and like me, has decided, its maybe time to look for a companionable friend.
I think thats what most women seek...we all want a real man...
Is there one out there?????

It is very interesting that to my request for friends...both male and female...I received just one positive response.
It was very kind of the sixty something elderly gentleman to let me stay in his Council apartment of one room, but when he said we could spend my time in London having a wonderful time in his bed, I lost interest.
Does anyone really think I would spend 3 months wages on a trip, to spend it in someone's single bed?
Now if that was Sir Paul, or Rex Harrison, or even Tom Cruise, I could feel tempted. I could even handle a luxury yacht, a dungeon in a medieval castle, or a high rise apartment with the bed overlooking the harbour or with views to France....

What I was hoping to find was a friend like other friends I have met online that have stayed. I met Cherie via Ticke and am visiting her in Texas for the second time. I met Rita in Berlin, through another friend site, and am visiting her for the third time.
And I am visiting another artist friend I met through Tickle in Hungary, and the wife of a teacher friend in Korea is teaching in Romania.
I have a friend in London, but she will be in Australia this trip, and there is Corinne in Nottingham who I shall visit if possible...but now I just have one day...then I go to Europe.
When you get to over 50, it is often the same sex friendships that give most pleasure, as they are based on mutual interests and mutual respect. I am looking forward to meeting other people who may be like me...open to a friendship of either sex..
Friendship with a male seems to imply 'instant sex' and to me, that cannot be considered unless there is a strong attraction between two people and a mutual desire and feeling.
Please don't write inviting me to your bed...unless you know we can share funtimes together first too...It would be wonderful to eventually find love, but in the meantime, I am very happy to find friends.....of both sexes

29 January...and still no booked tickets

I did get as far as trying to pay from Berlin back to London...but Ryan Air did not process the payment..so no idea what happened there. Said the fare may not be there.
I have decided to try and get an Eurail pass....and go Berlin to Austria to Hungary to Cluj...and see if that works...and just get a flight back when its time to return to London for NY..
I did not ealise it was going to be this difficult to book flights..I wish now I had done it with the booking like I usually do. Felt I wanted some adventure this time...more than I usually have.
Still thinking hire a car and just drive Europe...Maybe even from London...
What I need is a man or woman, with a car, and time, to come drive with me...Now that would be wonderful...Any Takers??? I pay the petrol and even drive the car...Your car...
Been looking at the cruises and its the same thing..I try to book, but no-one comes back to me.
Does no one want me???
I must get a couple of nights at a Hostel booked too...there seem to be plenty of vacancies, and I am wanting to be near Hyde Park so I can walk to Westminster and Tower Bridge and visit the Queen again...like I did last trip a few years ago...

I am amazed how fast time is flying.
I am now in my final 2 weeks of Winter Camp Teaching English in Korea, and next week I will start my trip.
I still have not confirmed or booked anything...and am still searching. I know that there is somewhere great I should be going, and that the direction will be revealed soon.
It had better...or I will be sitting at London Airport looking at my laptop wondering where to go..
The thing is, I am not sure exactly where I want to head first.. I must see Rita in Berlin... I must get to Madrid...and I also must get to Cluj in Romania...and then if something else gets preference..all those musts will disappear and I will head on.
This will be my fifth World Trip. Usually I prebook the flights on a 3 days and move..and know where I am going. This time, I booked 3 main ports...London, NY for a day, and Dallas, and Tokyo to return.
My idea was to 'follow my nose'..so I am open eot doing just that.
When I left it open I had a dream of driving to Edinburgh and then flying to Romania, and Eurail to Berlin over the Alps, fly down to Madrid, drive to Oporto and return to London.
However, something is stopping me from booking that route...as once booked, I am obliged to follow.
Yesterday I searched cruises to the canary Island..Thomsons...and also looked at Mediterranean Cruises..so it appears that I am still open as to what I do..
Today I came looking here for someone to maybe say, they will drive me around me scenic part of the UK...I had my heart set on the Scottish Highlands..
Anyway...I am still deciding the next step..and thought I would tell the story here.
It would be awesome to find a mate here, return to UK and teach and run my websites here.
My grandfather was born in Gloucester, my surname is Welsh, and my heart has always wanted to end my days in some isolated beautiful countryside writing books and creating photographic stories..
